Developing Your List

Your mailing list is one of your most valuable assets. People who subscribe are interested in what you do. You can then communicate with new subscribers on a regular basis about things in which they are interested.

You need a way to stay in touch with your prospects and customers. Building a list is one of the most inexpensive and cost-effective ways of doing this.

Encourage your subscribers to share and forward your emails using buttons and also opt in boxes.

A few ways to grow your list is via the following:

1. On your website

2. via your product or services

3. via social media

4. through online community platforms

5. On other sites

6. Interesting content

7. Newsletter

This comes to the conclusion of my series of tips on list building. Be sure to stay tuned for upcoming Success Tips with Daraline Witherspoon presented by “The Informer” internet radio program @ Just click on the microphone.

Web Traffic

Web traffic is the amount of data sent and received by visitors to a web site. Website traffic x conversion = results.

According to Kenny Fabre, website traffic is simply the amount of people that come to visit a website, the number of pages visitors click, and the amount of time a visitor views a page on a website. You can get more insight regarding what this traffic means by checking his blog

Here are some terms that refer to traffic and what they mean:

1. Visit. One individual that comes to your website and browses.

2. Unique Visit (Visit by Cookies). Tells you which visits for item 1 are visiting for the first time,

tracked by IP address.

3. Page view (impression). Each page that a visitor views is tracked as a page view.

4. Hits. A hit is not a visit. It refers to the number of files you have downloaded on your website.

5. Traffic Sources.

a) direct navigation - type URL in traffic, bookmarks, email links w/o tracking codes, etc.

b) referral traffic - from links across the web, social media, in trackable email, promotion & branding campaign links.

c) organic search - queries that sent traffic from any major or minor web search engines.

d) ppc - click through from Pay Per click sponsored ads, triggered by targeted key phrases.

Well, this seems like a lot to chew on now. Let it digest awhile and then we will continue with our series on list building. You can listen to our Success Tips with Daraline Witherspoon on “The Informer” internet radio show @ Just click on the microphone.

Domain Hosting

Domain hosting refers to businesses that specialize in hosting domain names for individuals and companies. Domain names are used in URLs to identify particular web pages.

Your domain name is the name of your site or your URL ( It can be purchased by going to a domain name registrar. Domain names usually cost between $10 and $50/yr.

In order for your website to appear on the internet, the files need to be uploaded to a server. These can be hosted by a hosting company which is billed monthly or annually.

Domain names can be purchased anywhere, but it's convenient to buy the domain and set up hosting in the same location.

We will continue our series on list building tools in our featured section called Success Tips with Daraline Witherspoon on “The Informer” internet radio program. You can find us at Click on the microphone.

A Named Domain

We've been talking about list building tools. Among them is what I call a named domain. For our purposes a domain is part of every network address including website addresses and email addresses. It is also the name of the website or what we refer to as the URL (Universal or Uniform Resource Locator) or address of a website.

Some of the reasons you want a domain are:

1. Branding your product or service.

2. Guarding against others using your brand to trade on.

3. It's your own unique identity.

4. The name should be related to your product or service.

5. Possible advertising revenue.

6. Credibility.

7. Email.

8. E commerce.

9. Professionalism.

Later in this series we will discuss how to acquire a domain and how to host it. In the meantime please continue to listen to Success Tips with Daraline Witherspoon, a segment sponsored by “The Informer” internet radio program. Go to and click on the microphone.

A quality giveaway

For one, the above is a bribe, it's free and it's enticing. It's also considered valuable in exchange for information from the prospect such as an email address or a cell phone number.

According to Kissmetrics Blog the offer should match the medium. In other words, if you're asking for an email address it should be because you need it in order to deliver your offer.

The important thing is to give him something he will use; Not something he should use. Something he will use. That’s the only kind of thing he’ll find valuable. He must perceive that this offer is of value.

The Plan is This:

      1. Drive traffic to an opt-in page
      2. Prospect enters their email address
      3. Redirect them to the “promise” or “thank you” page
      4. You build a list

So with that, tune in to our featured section Success Tips with Daraline Witherspoon, sponsored by “The Informer” internet radio program on Blogtalk radio @ Click on the microphone.

The Squeeze Page

The term squeeze page is sometimes used interchangeably with landing page and/or capture page. They basically all mean the same thing accept;

A squeeze page is a landing page designed to capture opt-in email addresses from potential subscribers. The goal of a squeeze page is to convince, cajole, or otherwise “squeeze” a visitor into providing one of their most coveted pieces of personal data – their email address.

Technically though, a landing page is any page that is an entry point to your website.

You use a landing page if you want the page to make a sale. That landing page is in essence, your “online salesperson.” The copywriter provides persuasive copy that will hook your prospect, inform them, overcome any objections to buying, and create a sense of urgency.

Squeeze pages are simpler and serve a very important purpose. You are “squeezing” your visitor for information. Use squeeze pages to obtain the name and email address of your web visitor. This is when you have an opt-in form on the page and the sole purpose of the copy is to get your visitor to fill out that form.
